verbeke foundation

Have you ever visited the Verbeke foundation? It was on my bucket list for years and last sunday, we managed to visit it. Inspiring place, this private art site (12 hectare nature). Their presentation is never completed, in movement, a bit messy, complex but never how you expect. If you want, there is even a artplace to stay called 'CasAnus' (a night in a cloaca? why not?)

Museum of selfies

This one makes us smile...Olivia Muus (Denmark) started this project with a friend when she visited the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen. She took a picture for fun and liked the way the expression got a whole new meaning.

the brown sisters

In summer 1975, Nicholas Nixon asked his wife and her three sisters if he could take their picture. After he saw the image, he asked them if they might do it every year. The series will be on view at the NY Museum of Modern Art, together with the publication of the book "The Brown sisters: Forty Years" in November.

middelheim

we went to the re-opening of the Middelheimmuseum yesterday.
sun, music, brass bands, lots of people and beautiful art in a wonderful park.

kröller-müller

we visited the kröller-müller museum yesterday.
two hours driving ,listening to "de bremer stadsmuzikanten").
this was a good starter, because long trips by car or museum-visits are not in our childrens top 3.
the museum has a world-renowned collection of mainly 19th and 20th century visual art.
their centrepieces include the large collection of work by Vincent van Gogh and the sculpture garden.
they have free bikes to use and visit the huge park around the museum.
despite the showers in the afternoon, our trip was a succes!
as flor (13) said: "it was nice to see these famous paintings in real life"
