kruger

Sunday, it was Kruger-market at the Krugerplein, a local market with handmade goodies and food, at the most beautiful square in Borgerhout!
My dear friend Eva was there with knitted and embroided goods, pretty potholders, lovely skirts and more...even a few zeza&flor cotton sheets (ah, times past...)
 The next/fourth edition will be on Sunday, Oct 4, starting from 10am
The fifth edition will be an evening market, on Nov 1, 4pm
The sixth edition is a X-mas market extraordinaire, on Sunday 20 Dec

Akihiro Mizuuchi, an illustrator and designer from Shizuoka (Japan) created these yummie chocolate Lego creatures. For me, the Eiffeltower in dark blocks, please :-)

ROOM collection

When it comes to furniture, people are used to placing a object within a square space. 

Erik Olovsson and Kyuhyung Cho were interested in diversifying the relationship between object and space to create furniture as rooms for objects. The focus was to explore the mix-and-match quality of the ensemble in our spaces from a graphical approach.


ROOM collection is a furniture system with 25 stackable blocks. All blocks are made of fir and pine veneered plywood. Both designers completed their Master from the art academy Konstfack.

alphabet shelves

the geometric Alphabet Shelves are custom-made by Chiaozza.
They are ideal for displaying collections of small objects and curios, yet are beautiful on their own as art objects themselves.

The shelves are inspired by a Danish folk design from the island of Amager, near Copenhagen, and are cut with traditional woodworking saws. Shapes include variations on triangles, parallelograms, circles, and letter forms.

Great idea, beautifully designed!
Quite expensive though, but hey...made with love!

studiomie

if you plan a trip to ghent and need a fantastic place to stay, go to studiomie.

studiomie is a b&b, for two persons and made out of two containers. 

that seems small, but inside, you get everything you need, very personal and fresh. 

the bed (in the top container) is huge and gives you a great view over the rooftops.

maybe it is better to book studiomie and plan a trip to ghent around it...

de invasie is coming

On Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 of March, an army of young, creative warriors named De Invasie (The Invasion) will occupy the city. Antwerp is the biggest city that has ever been the home-base of De Invasie. 

Over 70 young, creative warriors put up camp together with De Invasie and the City of Antwerp in the middle of the city: the previous Ethnographic Museum by the Suikerrui 19/Kaasstraat.
There is also a city course, highlighting young designers.
Go, go, go, window-shopping, this weekend!

Stockholm Furniture Fair 2012

a bit late, perhaps, but it was too beautiful not too mention : Stockholms Furniture Fair 2012.

It had a big leaning towards office design this year, offering an abundance of wooden conference tables, chairs and sound-proofing devices.
